About Me

I currently work for CBC Ottawa as a mobile journalist and file for multiple platforms including digital, social media, radio, and television. I also fill in as the host of the t.v. newscasts at 6 and 11 p.m. and as a producer for the 6 p.m. t.v. newscast. I have worked at CBC Ottawa since July 2018.

My profile includes mobile/video journalist, editor, host, online writer, radio news reader, social media editor/presenter, and producer. I create content for t.v., radio, digital and social platforms for news and current affairs.

Previously, I worked for CBC Prince Edward Island from 2014-2018 as a multiplatform journalist where I covered a wide variety of stories on multiple platforms for both local and national shows. Some of my work includes covering the historic story of abortion services coming to P.E.I. for national CBC platforms; live t.v. coverage along with filing for online and radio from the field when Canadian Blood Services workers crossed the picket line when P.E.I. workers had been on strike for months; and the story of why more women are becoming lobster boat captains that was on national CBC radio, News Network and The National. Before that I worked for CBC North in Iqaluit as a reporter/editor for t.v. and radio from October 2013-April 2014. I also worked for CBC Manitoba from May-June 2013 and April 2012-October 2013 as an associate producer and reporter/editor in both news and current affairs.

I wrote a monthly column for the Lance community newspaper for four years that covered both my adventures and experiences as a journalist living across Canada and travelling the world along with my hometown neighbourhood of St. Vital in Winnipeg. I have also written for the Winnipeg Free Press, Prairie Yogi magazine, the University of Manitoba Bisons website, and the Projector, Red River College’s student newspaper. I have also done freelance writing for a social media blog.

In April 2012 I graduated from the Creative Communications program at Red River College in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada where I majored in journalism. I also graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Arts with a major in English in 2010.

During my college education I interned at CBC Winnipeg, Global TV Winnipeg, and Shaw TV Winnipeg. I hosted a morning radio show on 92.9 KICK FM and was one of the hosts of a live, nine-hour telethon that was aired on Shaw TV Winnipeg for The Winnipeg Humane Society. I did live-hits and interviews and produced pre-packaged stories for the telethon.

I also anchored and reported for Live at Five, which is a live newscast produced through broadcast journalism class in the Creative Communications program at Red River College every Thursday. Stories were shot, written, voiced, and edited between 8:00 a.m. and a 4:30 p.m. deadline. The newscast was streamed live on the Internet and later rebroadcast on Shaw TV Winnipeg. I also interned with the True North Sports & Entertainment Ltd. and Winnipeg Jets communications department.

I have also done marketing and social media for the Future Leaders of Manitoba Council (FLMC).
